Who Is Music Star Lana Del Rey?

Elizabeth Woolridge Grant popularly known as Lana Del Rey is an American songwriter and singer. He was born on June 21st, 1995.

Her Early Life

Lana Del Rey was born to Robert England Grant Jr, a Grey Group copywriter, and Ann Pat, an executive at Grey Group. She has a younger brother Charlie and a sister Caroline. She was raised Catholic and of Scottish descent.

Her family moved to Upstate New York when she was a year old. Her father worked for a furniture company before becoming an investor, her mother worked as a school teacher. She was also a chorister and was the church cantor.

Lana Del Rey’s Career

Her music is usually styled in cinematic quality. Her music explores themes of sadness, tragic romance, glamor, and melancholia, and it contains many references to pop culture, particularly 1950s and 1960s Americana. She was born in New York City and raised in upstate New York.

She later returned to New York to start her music career in 2005. Following numerous projects which she did herself including her self-titled debut studio album. She went viral when her debut single Video Games came through in 2011. She later signed with Interscope and Polydor that year. Her debut album ‘Born To Die’ which she released in 2012 was an international success and a single in the album “Summertime Sadness” peaked among the top ten on the Billboard hot 100 as well as her singles Blue Jeans and Born To Die was also a massive hit.

She later ventured into film writing and also starred in a short music film Tropico. The star also released Young and Beautiful as the lead single for the romantic drama film The Great Gatsby which was released in 2013. She later released her third album Ultraviolence in 2014 which was also a major success.
